Beeswax Columns made by Honey Candles® are truly special. Somewhere between a pillar and a candlestick they are simpler and require less maintenance to burn well than either. Unlike pillars you don’t need to burn them 3 hours at a time to get a wide wax pool. They are in the candlestick category in the Honey Candles® store but they are far more forgiving than the other beeswax candlesticks like tubes or tapers about exposure to drafts and they burn so much longer because there is so much more wax. Beeswax column candles burn anywhere from 20 to 25 hours depending on whether you burn them intermittently.
With a 1½ inch base you might think finding the perfect candle holder for a column might be a challenge. It turns out the perfect holder is a pillar holder with a little spike in it. Here is one of the beautiful handmade varieties from artisan blacksmiths at nearby Kootenay Forge.
Just tip the column slightly and slide the spike in next to the wick without damaging it. Because the column is standing freely on a metal holder you should be able to burn it right to the bottom and not have much wax left over.
I really love burning beeswax Honey Candles® Columns. I like how long they last. I love the amber light and the warm natural honey scent when they burn. I like that they require less maintenance than pillars and have the advantages of candlesticks without the fuss. If you are thinking of purchasing some beeswax candles to make your home cozy I strongly advise you to consider beeswax Honey Candles® Columns – particularly if you have happen to have a candle holder similar to the one I have photographed.
Beeswax Honey Candles® are made in Canada.
