It’s the spookiest time of the year! With Halloween coming up soon, it is a great time to enjoy a fun and simple spooky craft! At Honey Candles we love making DIY candle holders for every occasion. Homemade candle holders make perfect, useful decorations and crafting them is a fun activity to do with kids, friends or for some solo relaxation! This Halloween try one (or both!) of these simple beeswax tealight holders.
Mini Pumpkin Spiders
You will need:
- Mini Pumpkins
- Black Pipe Cleaners
- A drill and 1.5 inch hole saw or a small sharp knife
- Scissors
- Pure beeswax tealights
- Tealight cups*
Instructions:
- Remove the pumpkin stem and use your 1.5 inch bit to drill a hole into for your Honey Candle tealight. The hole should be approximately the same depth as your beeswax candle. If you do not have a drill, carefully cut a hole using a knife and spoon (this step is best left to grown ups).
- Cut your black pipe cleaners in half and poke 4 into each side of the pumpkin. Bend them at a right angle downward and then up at the bottom for the crawly look shown. If you have trouble getting the pipe cleaners into the pumpkin, use a skewer or other sharp object to make a hole they can slide into.
- Now its time to add your pure beeswax tealights to enjoy hours of golden natural light and gentle honey aroma.
Mason Jar Ghosts
You will need:
- Mason Jars
- Tissue Paper (we used white and orange)
- Black construction paper
- White glue
- Small paint brush
- Pure beeswax tealights
- Tealight cups*
Instructions:
- Begin by cutting the tissue paper into varying sizes that will fit on the outside of the mason jars. Cutting the tissue paper into many small pieces will give your candle holder more texture and than single large pieces.
- Next dilute your white glue with a small amount of water (you don’t want it to gum up your brush). Use your paint brush to apply the glue mixture to the outside of the jars. Now place your tissue paper pieces onto the jar making sure to overlap the edges to create depth, brush on additional glue mixture if necessary.
- Finally cut the black construction paper into fun shapes for eyes, mouths, noses and whatever else you’d like as pictured. Use glue to apply your shapes to the mason jar as desired.
- Once your DIY masterpieces have dried you are ready to add your tealight in its snug fitting tealight cup and enjoy! These adorable candle holders are fun for all ages!
*Tealights are carefully crafted to fully liquefy, which means they need to be burned in a snug fitting cup. You can find Honey Candles natural tealights that come in clear cup or aluminum cup or you can buy no cup tealights along with a reusable, eco-friendly glass cup.
