In 2009 Honey Candles® enthusiastically set out to create a beeswax candle line scented with essential oils. We spent much of that year perfecting the process.
Considerable time was devoted to test burning to be sure we had the amount of essential oil just right in our candles. We wanted a subtle scent that people would love, was safe and was not overpowering. It is important for you to know that pure essential oils can be volatile. We never recommend that you pour essential oils into the wax pool of one of our candles. If there is too much essential oil the candle will not burn properly and may burn too hot.
By the end of 2009 we had Honey Candles® Essentials in a tin ready to go to market. We have six scents: Citronella, Country Lavender, Mulled Spice, Kootenay Forest, Rosemary Mint and Evening Bloom. We launched the new line in 2010. It took a while for them to take off because they didn’t have the traditional Honey Candles® burgundy label. Each scent has its own colored label and customers at first didn’t recognize them as their favorite Honey Candles. But when people realized they were the same pure natural beeswax Honey Candles®, just infused with essential oils they started to move. So much so that a year later we had the same six scents in beeswax votives.
Our entire line of handmade Honey Candles® Essentials is becoming popular, both in tins and votives. The scents Mulled Spice and Kootenay Forest are in demand at Christmas. Citronella is the outdoor summer choice. Country Lavender, Rosemary Mint and Evening Bloom are perennial favorites.
If you like a scented candle we hope that you do not choose a synthetic fragrance oil candle. Fragrance oils contain many toxic substances. Fragranced candles often have phthalates.
